When I was in Junior High and High School the yearbook pictures and the photo package that I took home and gave to my Mom to distribute amongst the relatives were one in the same: a non-discript background, a cheesy smile, poor color (and style) choice in clothes because I forgot it was picture day, and the same boring pose that every school photographer in America used—sit with your shoulders square to the camera… hands in your lap… head slightly tilted… fine, say “cheese”... next.
Now contrast that with Andrew’s school picture (above). He looks like he’s posing for his debut album (sorry, CD) cover. The photographer that comes to their school gives them a choice of two different settings and about 4 different pose options, none of which include squared shoulders and saying “cheese”.
What a great idea for teens who usually don’t have a good opinion of themselves anyway. I think these kind of shots go a long way in improving self-esteem during those awkward years.
Of course Andrew doesn’t need any of these additional ego boosts because he’s the poster child for cool.
