Who am I? · Nov 16, 04:35 PM

About me… hmm…. what does one put in this section? Is this supposed to make you identify with me more and therefore put more meaning behind the text I’ve put on my site? Or is it a place you go and look after you’ve read some of my posts to see if finding out more about me will give you more insight to something I’ve written?

Here are the basics—maybe it’s too much information, maybe it’s not enough, maybe it’s not the information you were looking for—here it is:

I’m an computer programmer by occupation. I enjoy technology to a point and consider myself a “geek”. I like learning new things and so I set up this site to teach myself about maintaining a server as well as a website (I think I do the former much better than the latter). Although I like technology and it’s many gadgets, I also see the importance of being grounded in reality. What I mean by that is that I try to make sure that there is a purpose for the technology that I use and not just because it’s bleeding edge—what use can I find in that technology and how will it make my life better? There is more to life than computers and the internet.

I like to garden (though I’m not that good at it). I enjoy cooking. I like watching sports at the collegiate level, but usually not at the professional level. I like reading when I can find the time. I am a husband and a father of six children. I am moderately active in politics (meaning I try to make informed choices at the polls). And finally, I have an abiding faith in God and His son, Jesus Christ, which I try to let influence all other aspects of my life.

Is that good enough for you to get an idea of the man behind the words? Probably not, but it will have to do.
